Over 150 crows have been discovered lifeless in three districts of the Jammu area triggering a hen flu scare and samples have been despatched for testing to a wildlife lab in Punjab, officers mentioned on Friday. The hen deaths have been reported from Udhampur, Kathua and Rajouri districts since Thursday, they mentioned.
Groups of wildlife and animal husbandry departments visited the spot, collected samples and burnt the carcasses, they mentioned.
The samples have been despatched to the wildlife laboratory in Punjab’s Jalandhar for testing, they mentioned.
The Centre on Friday mentioned hen flu has been confirmed thus far in Kerala, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Haryana and Gujarat, and requested these six states to include the illness as per the motion plan.
As a precautionary measure, the administration has imposed a ban on the import of dwell birds and unprocessed poultry meat for any objective into the Union Territory until January 14.
