Polling for the second section of District Growth Council (DDC) elections in Jammu and Kashmir started as we speak at 7 am. Out of the 280 constituencies in Jammu and Kashmir, 43 are going to polls within the union territory within the second section – 25 in Kashmir and 18 in Jammu division.
Election can also be being held in 83 sarpanch constituencies for which a complete of 223 candidates are contesting within the section two.
Additionally, by-polls are being held in 331 panch constituencies. Over 700 candidates are within the fray for these seats.
Authorities have declared all 1,300 polling stations within the valley as delicate.
“Virtually all cubicles in Kashmir are delicate from the safety standpoint. Extra safety has been offered within the polling stations within the valley,” state election commissioner Ok Ok Sharma instructed reporters on Monday.
He mentioned all safety preparations have been put in place and the areas have been secured.
The primary section polling was held on November 28. The counting of votes be held on December 22.
